ADHESIVES BY MYK LATICRETE
Polymer based adhesive for fixing ceramic tiles, Vitrified tiles and stones on interior floor, wall and external floors.
Areas of Application:- Designed especially for interior floor and wall installations and external floor installations of all types of ceramic tile, vitrified tile, precast terrazzo and natural stones over concrete and on a variety of cement-based substrates. Can be used upto a maximum 12mm bed thickness
Unit
The surface to be covered with Ceramic tile shall be sound and confirm to good design, rigid, clean and free of dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds, form release agents or loose plaster and paint. For economy the surfaces should be level and true with in: Walls – 3mm in 2.5m Floors – 1.5mm in 1.0m
If a plaster/leveling mortar bed is applied, ensure that it is cured for at least 7 days to achieve proper strength before application of tile adhesive for installation of tile. Ensure the substrate is clean and free from impurities like dust, dirt, debris, oil, grease, curing agents, loose plaster etc. Dampen the wall before application of thin set adhesive. Clean the back of tile for any dust or coating.
Use of sealer is recommended on back and edges for Marble – Natural stones.
The products can be mixed by hand or slow speed electric drill mixer (less than 300 rpm). Pour potable clean water in a clean container and then add the powder L315 plus and mix until the mixture becomes creamy and plastic. Do not over mix. Leave the mix to slake for 5-10 min and remix before use. Mix only sufficient quantity of adhesive for immediate need.
Approximately 1 bag of L315 plus with 5-6 ltrs of water. Adjust quantity of liquid to obtain proper consistency.
Apply L315 plus adhesive to the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, pressing firmly to work into surface. Comb on additional adhesive with the notched side. Use the proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile. Spread as much adhesive as can be covered with tile in 10 minutes. Back butter large format tiles (> 12”x12”) to provide full bedding and firm support. Place tiles into wet, sticky adhesive and beat in using a beating block and rubber mallet to imbed tile and adjust level. Check adhesive for complete coverage by periodically removing a tile and inspecting bedding adhesive transfer onto back of tile. If adhesive is skinned over (not sticky), remove and replace with fresh adhesive. The most important standard to keep in mind is to insure that the piece of tile is completely bedded in the mortar or adhesive with 100% coverage. Rear face of tiles (especially Porcelain tiles) should be cleaned with damp sponge to clean all the dust. Do not saturate in water. Excess mortar on adhesive shall be cleaned from the surface of the stone with wet cloth or sponge while the mortar is fresh. Use of spacer is recommended to provide grout joints between tiles. The joint width shall be as per the recommendation of architect / engineer or as per choice. Remove the spacers when the adhesive is set firm. Excess adhesive shall be cleaned from the surface of the tile / stone with wet cloth or sponge while the mortar is fresh.
Grout installation shall be commenced after a minimum of 24 to 36 hours curing time at +35° C.
For maximum stain resistance EPOXY GROUT is recommended
Light foot traffic approximately 2 – 4 days
Heavy foot traffic approximately 3 – 6 days
Approx. 50-55 sq.ft. per 20 kg bag with a 1/4” x 1/4” (6mm x 6mm) square notch trowel for a bed of 3mm.
Coverage will vary depending on trowel notch size, type and size of tile/stone and substrate smoothness and evenness.
