ADHESIVES BY KERAKOLL
BIOFLEX Flexible mineral adhesive to fix vitrified tiles and natural stones on floor and wall.
Areas of Application:- For interior & exterior floor & wall installations of all types of Ceramic tiles Vitrified tiles, Terracotta, Marble and natural stone, Indian marble, Various mosaics over concrete and a variety of substrates.
Unit
All surfaces must be dimensionally stable, level, cured, undamaged, compact, rigid, resistant, dry and free from any debonding agents and from damp rising. It is good practice to dampen highly absorbent concrete surfaces.
If a plaster/leveling mortar bed is applied, ensure that it is cured for at least 7 days to achieve proper strength before application of tile adhesive for installation of tile
Ensure the substrate is clean and free from impurities like dust, dirt, debris, oil, grease, curing agents, loose plaster etc Dampen the wall before application of thin set adhesive Clean the back of tile for any dust or coating.
Use of sealer is recommended on back and edges for Marble – Natural stones.
Place clean, potable water into a clean mixing bowl. Add BIOFLEX powder into the mixing bowl. Use approximately 5-6 ltrs of clean water for 20 kg of powder.
Mix by hand or with a slow speed mixer to a smooth, trowelable consistency. Allow adhesive to slake for 5 minutes. Adjust consistency if necessary. Remix and apply with the proper sized notched trowel.
Approximately 1 bag of BIOFLEX with 5-6 ltrs of water. Adjust quantity of liquid to obtain proper consistency.
Apply adhesive to the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, pressing firmly to work into surface. Comb on additional adhesive with the notched side. Use the proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile. Spread as much adhesive as can be covered with tile in 10 minutes.
Back butter large format tiles (> 12”x12”) to provide full bedding and firm support. Place tiles into wet, sticky adhesive and beat in using a beating block and rubber mallet to imbed tile and adjust level. Check adhesive for complete coverage by periodically removing a tile and inspecting bedding adhesive transfer onto back of tile. If adhesive is skinned over (not sticky), remove and replace with fresh adhesive. Use of spacer is recommended to provide grout joints between tiles. The joint width shall be as per the recommendation of architect / engineer or as per choice. Remove the spacers when the adhesive is set firm. Excess adhesive shall be cleaned from the surface of the tile / stone with wet cloth or sponge while the mortar is fresh.
Grout installation shall be commenced after a minimum of 24 to 36 hours curing time at +35° C.
For maximum stain resistance EPOXY GROUT is recommended
