ADHESIVES BY MYK LATICRETE

DWA 215 is a modified Polyurethane Adhesive designed for the installation of glass mosaic(without mesh), ceramic tile, vitrified tile and small size natural stone on most drywall boards and clean dry cement based surfaces. DWA 215 is a factory made pail consisting of pre-blended single component adhesive which is ready to use.

Areas of Application: For commercial and residential installations of ceramic tile, vitrified tile and small size natural stone over most drywall boards and clean cement based surfaces. Used where installations must resist physical abuse, shock, and mild chemicals. (Interior & Exterior)

Unit

10KG & 20KG

Application

Substrate:

While using DWA 215 adhesive to install small tiles/stone on Dry wall boards like Plywood, Cement Backer board, Calcium Silicate Board, Gypsum wall board, it is important to check with the manufacturer of the board, for the load bearing capacity and internal strength of the board to sustain the loading of tiles and stones. It is recommended to commence work only on such confirmation and seek from them, the methodology of fixing of boards to keep them stable without moving and (warping) bending.

Surface Preparation:

Ensure the substrate is clean and free from impurities like dust, dirt, debris, oil, grease, etc . Clean the back of tile for any dust or coating. While installing tiles and stones on dry wall boards, it is important to see that the joint spaces between the adjacent boards should be carried up to the top of tile and the adhesive mortar is not allowed to enter the space between the boards. It is recommended to use spacers to create joints while tiling on the drywall boards. While filling up the joints between the tiles and stones installed on dry wall boards use highly flexible EPOXY grout.

Mixing:

DWA 215 Modified PU Adhesive is a single component, ready to use adhesive. Open the lid of the pail, mix with a scoop or trowel and apply with the proper sized notched trowel. Take out only the amount of adhesive required for use and keep the lid of the pail closed to prevent skinning of the adhesive in the pail

Proportion:

DWA 215 is premixed single component ready to use adhesive.

Installation:

Apply adhesive to the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, pressing firmly to work into surface. Comb on additional adhesive with the notched side. Use the proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile. Spread as much adhesive as can be covered with tile in 10 minutes.

Back butter large format tiles (> 12”x12”) to provide full bedding and firm support. Place tiles into wet, sticky adhesive and beat in using a beating block and rubber mallet to imbed tile and adjust level. Check adhesive for complete coverage by periodically removing a tile and inspecting bedding adhesive transfer onto back of tile. If adhesive is skinned over (not sticky), remove and replace with fresh adhesive. Use of spacer is recommended to provide grout joints between tiles. The joint width shall be as per the recommendation of architect / engineer or as per choice. Remove the spacers when the adhesive is set firm. Excess adhesive shall be cleaned from the surface of the tile / stone with wet cloth or sponge while the mortar is fresh.

DWA 215 may take more time to cure: 1. If both substrate and tile are not highly absorbent. 2. When large format tile or stone is being installed. 3. High humidity in the environment. In such cases, it is recommended to keep the supports for extended periods as required at site.

Grouting:

Grout installation shall be commenced after a minimum of 24 to 36 hours curing time at +35° C.

For maximum stain resistance EPOXY GROUT is recommended

Surface ready to use:

Light foot traffic approximately 2 – 4 days

Heavy foot traffic approximately 3 – 6 days
